Meet Dr. Stephanie

I am Dr. Stephanie Wofford, PsyD, a licensed Clinical Psychologist in both Texas and Colorado, practicing in the North Dallas Area. I work with children ages 8+, adolescents, young adults, and families to provide psychotherapy and assessment services.  The priority of my therapeutic approach is to develop a warm, genuine, and empathic relationship. A relationship built on deep care, compassion, trust, and laughter is one that can safely hold the intense and sometimes overwhelming emotions we carry. Focusing on a relational framework allows me to utilize a psychodynamic approach while incorporating attachment and families systems theories, as well as behavioral interventions of CBT, ACT, and DBT. Therapeutic care is individualized to attend to unique needs of patients of all identities and backgrounds.

I also provide psychological, psychoeducational, and emotional behavioral assessments to address questions of learning disabilities, ADHD, giftedness, and social and emotional functioning. A pillar of my practice is the belief that assessment can help us to develop better understanding of ourselves through creating a sort of ‘roadmap’ of our cognitive, academic, executive, and personality functioning. Using assessment to learn more about our sense of sense, interpersonal understanding, mood and emotions, and the ways we understand and navigate the world around us can give great insight for the path forward. Understanding our unique functioning can help to navigate various supports that may be helpful, create more empathic understanding of our challenges, and learn how to use our strengths to reach our great potential.

I earned my doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Adler University in Chicago, IL. I completed my predoctoral internship at University of Texas Heath San Antonio where I focused on outpatient assessment and therapy for children, adolescents, and families experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, ADHD, Autism spectrum disorder, and trauma. I have additional experience working in schools, inpatient and partial hospitalization settings, community mental health centers, and private practices in providing individual, family, and play therapy, as well as assessment, group therapy, and parent training services.
